Radical Peace: People Refusing War

dai_200.jpgTalk with William T. Hathaway, Oldenburg. Thu, November 10, 8:15 p.m. at the d.a.i. Tübingen.

A new group of peace activists from the USA, Europe, Iraq and Afghanistan is resisting Barack Obama’s continuation of the militarist American foreign policy. They have moved beyond demonstrations and petitions into direct action, defying the government’s laws and impeding its ability to wage war. In Radical Peace: People Refusing War, Hathaway, a former Fulbright professor of American studies and a Special Forces combat veteran turned peace activist, traces their ideas and convictions and explains a peace activist’s way of life. Noam Chomsky described Radical Peace as a book that captures such complexities and depths of human existence, even apart from the immediate message.
